To outpace adversaries on the battlefield, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has officially launched the Defense AI Center A1, supported by the British government. This center will focus on integrating artificial intelligence into warfare, aiming to fulfill the President’s mandate and secure technological superiority across three key domains: air, ground, and economic fields.

In modern warfare, the side that reacts faster wins. Today, AI has become the core driving force behind battlefield decision-making and gaining strategic advantage. The primary focus of this center is delivering practical solutions for the battlefield.

Prioritized Development Directions:

- Transforming combat data into actionable intelligence (insights)

We are developing systems capable of analyzing battlefield data, predicting enemy movements, and assisting in formulating efficient response strategies.

- Autonomous systems

We are advancing AI technologies for drone and robotic platforms, enabling them to operate effectively even without GPS and under electronic warfare (EW) interference. These systems will be integrated into a unified network, allowing combat missions to be executed with minimal human involvement, thereby maximizing the protection of soldiers’ lives.

The next priority is accelerating innovation within the defense industry. AI should serve as the driving force propelling new technological solutions across all aspects of warfare. We are launching simulation environments where new concepts can be designed, tested, and their effectiveness enhanced under real-world operational conditions.

Another specialized focus is streamlining bureaucratic procedures in critical military areas: procurement, financial auditing, personnel management, and more.

A1 will serve as a unified hub, bringing together military forces, enterprises, scientists, and international partners around national defense AI initiatives. Thanks to this platform, we will be able to synchronize the development of solutions and rapidly turn ideas into effective tools deployed at the frontlines.
