Yesterday, Washington Insider reported that a bipartisan group of U.S. senators has reached an agreement with Trump to advance new legislation targeting buyers of Russian oil. The Trump administration is backing a bipartisan bill that aims to increase economic pressure on Russia by imposing high tariffs on countries continuing to use Russian oil and gas. Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal said although he hasn’t calculated the total vote count, he believes there will be support from Democrats for the proposal. Senate Majority Leader John Thune told Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham that once they secure enough votes, he would push forward the bill. The Senate is set to reconvene on Monday.
