Dubai Airline Flight Crisis: Pilot Stabbed, Passengers Step In to Subdue Attacker
According to a passenger on board, as reported by i24News television, a pilot on a Dubai Airline (Flydubai) flight that issued a distress signal was stabbed, with the situation brought under control only after intervention by passengers.
A female passenger told the broadcaster: “We heard screams for about two hours on the plane. The pilot was stabbed, and we saw a lot of blood.”
The incident was reportedly contained by Israeli nationals aboard the aircraft, who subdued the attacker. Among the passengers were a nurse and a doctor, who provided emergency medical care to the injured pilot. The passenger noted that several pilots were present on board, who assumed control of the aircraft and executed an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier Wednesday, a Flydubai aircraft transmitted an emergency alert before making an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Initial media reports speculated about possible hijacking or aircraft seizure, but those accounts were later dismissed following the safe landing.
Israeli media suggested the emergency may have been triggered by a physical altercation between pilots, which inadvertently activated the aircraft’s safety systems.
