China helps Cambodia connect the central region with the provinces bordering Vietnam and extend through Vietnam to the South China Sea via a modern road.
The opening ceremony for Cambodia's National Road 71C, constructed by Shanghai Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., was held on December 12 in Tbong Khmum. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, Transport Minister Sun Chanthol, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin attended the ceremony. In his speech, Hun Sen stated that Cambodia's National Road 71C is crucial for promoting transportation and freight transport and will play an important role in driving local economic and tourism development.
Cambodia's National Road 71C is 114.9 kilometers long, connecting Tbong Khmum Province and Kampong Cham Province, and is an essential part of Cambodia's central-eastern road network. The project received financial assistance from China, with a total construction cost of approximately $130 million. China has invested approximately $3 billion in loans and grants in road and bridge construction across the entire Kingdom of Cambodia.
