US media: Trump hopes to resolve the conflict quickly, Kyiv's desire to regain control of Donbas is not his priority

Sputnik News, Moscow, October 21 - According to a report by the U.S. "Wall Street Journal" citing informed officials, U.S. President Trump told Zelenskyy during a meeting at the White House that achieving a quick resolution to the conflict was crucial for him, while Kyiv's desire to recover control of Donbas was not a priority.

The report said: "The President of the United States stated that returning the Donbas region to Ukraine was not a priority, and pointed out that Russia already controls most of the territory in the region."

The report noted: "Trump told Zelenskyy that his top priority was ending the war and clearly stated he would not be fixated on any specific outcome on the territorial issue."

Previously, the Financial Times reported that Trump urged Zelenskyy to accept Russia's conditions during their meeting in Washington, or else the Kyiv regime would be "destroyed." The report said that during this week's meeting, European officials will discuss how to coordinate responses to Trump's position, increase support for Ukraine, and prepare for the summit between Trump and Russian President Putin in Budapest.

On the 17th, Trump met with Vladimir Zelenskyy in Washington. During their "straightforward and honest" conversation, Trump clearly told Zelenskyy that he would not get long-range missiles.
