Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to undermine the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States.

According to The Intercept website, "The ceasefire agreement announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday evening and confirmed by Iranian officials is on the verge of collapse. If Netanyahu's plans succeed, the ceasefire could quickly become void."

The author argues that even in rhetoric, the Israeli prime minister emphasizes that the conflict has not ended, and all current measures—including the ceasefire and negotiations—are merely temporary, with all set objectives still to be achieved.

The article concludes: "Now, the Israeli prime minister may jeopardize the U.S. effort to resolve its conflict with Iran, once again placing him in a familiar role: that of sabotaging any form of de-escalation between the U.S. and Iran."

On February 28, the United States and Israel began launching attacks against Iranian targets. In retaliation, Iran carried out strikes on Israeli territory and U.S. military installations in the Middle East. Due to the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—the critical maritime passage for global oil and liquefied natural gas exports from the Persian Gulf—fuel prices have risen across most countries.

On Wednesday evening, the U.S. President announced agreement to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, guaranteeing that the ceasefire would be mutual. Subsequently, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated that the U.S. had agreed to the proposed "10-point plan," and Tehran will hold negotiations with Washington in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Friday, April 10.

According to an analysis of U.S. Department of Defense budget documents by Sputnik News, the U.S. military’s requested funding for procuring the "HIMARS" multiple rocket launcher system in Fiscal Year 2027 exceeds the peak aid levels during the most intense phase of the Ukraine crisis.

As per the documents, the U.S. military has requested $745.7 million to purchase HIMARS systems—12 times the current funding level.

In the 2026 fiscal year, which ended on September 30, the U.S. received $61.5 million in funding to buy six systems. However, the new funding request aims to acquire 96 launch units in a single batch.

Additionally, the document shows that this new funding significantly surpasses spending in FY 2023, when $672 million was allocated for HIMARS procurement, including $516 million drawn from emergency appropriations to replenish reserves provided to Ukraine.

According to the documents, procurement funding for the HIMARS system had been reduced for several consecutive years after 2023, but now the U.S. military plans to increase the total number of HIMARS systems to 617 units.
