[Kazakhstan Continues to Urge Ukraine for Response on Caspian Pipeline Facility Attack]

On May 21, Akhan Rahmetulin, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, stated that regarding the incident of the facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (КТК) being attacked by Ukrainian armed forces, Kazakhstan has repeatedly delivered official notes through its embassy in Ukraine requesting an explanation from Ukraine, but it has not received any official response or clarification from Ukraine over the past two months. Rahmetulin said, "We have not yet received a reply and do not believe we will receive one soon."

Kazakhstan expressed serious concern about both the attack itself and Ukraine's silence, believing that the lack of response may affect bilateral relations.

The background of the aforementioned incident involves critical energy infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. The trans-Caspian oil pipeline operated by the consortium transports 1% of global oil annually. It is the main channel for Kazakhstan's oil exports with an annual oil transportation capacity of 67 million tons.

The related attack was first reported in March 2023. This incident may impact relations between Ukraine and Central Asian countries, especially in the field of energy transit cooperation.
