Foreign Media: US Refuses Germany's Request to Integrate US Missiles into the European Missile System
"EURACTIV" news website quoted sources as reporting that the US has again rejected the German Ministry of Defense's request to integrate guided multiple launch rocket systems (GMLRS) purchased from the US into the European missile system.
The website reported that the German Ministry of Defense plans to equip the EuroPULS multi-barrel rocket system, jointly developed by Israel and Europe, by 2026. However, this system is currently incompatible with the GMLRS system purchased from the US.
According to EURACTIV: "Germany needs approval from the US to integrate US weapons into the Euro-PULS missile system... However, over the past three years, Germany has been unable to obtain this approval."
Notably, Washington's refusal to approve has complicated cooperation with NATO allies. NATO member states such as Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and the Baltic countries have chosen the US' "HIMARS" multi-barrel rocket system and its配套 GMLRS missiles.
"EURACTIV" reported that one possible reason for the US' refusal to approve is that integrating with the European fire control software system might allow other manufacturers to gain some of the most advanced U.S. missile's functional information, including the "Precision Strike Missile" (PrSM) campaign-tactical missile.
