Korean media: China's global market share of displays will reach 75% by 2028!

On September 29, the Korean media "Herald Economy" published an article stating that there are forecasts that the market share of Chinese companies, which currently dominate the global display market, will reach 75% by 2028.

Korean companies may continue to maintain slight growth, but their global market share is expected to drop to single digits.

Market research company Counterpoint Research recently released the latest "Display Capacity" report, analyzing the current status and outlook for global display capacity.

By region, China is expected to maintain its leadership, with its capacity share increasing from 68% in 2023 to 75% in 2028.

The compound annual growth rate during this period is expected to be about 4.0%.

During the same period, South Korea's market share is expected to decrease from 9% to 8%, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 0.6%.

Japan's market share was 4% in 2023, and it is expected to plummet to 1% by 2028.

This is because Sharp has been closing its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and liquid crystal display (LCD) production lines since the third quarter of last year.

Accordingly, Japan's average annual growth rate is expected to be -21.3%.
