[Russia accounts for nearly 100% of China's anthracite imports]
On May 5, the Russian Kommersant reported that China's import volume of Russian anthracite reached a record high, with Russia accounting for nearly 100% of China's anthracite imports.
Statistics show that by the end of March, Russia exported a record 1.9 million tons of anthracite to China, almost accounting for nearly 100% of China's anthracite imports. Kommersant cited data from the Price Index Center to report this news.
According to the Price Index Center's data, in March 2025, the import volume of anthracite increased by 59% compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, the procurement volumes of thermal coal and coking coal decreased overall by 9% and 3%, respectively. The total coal exports from Russia to China in March increased by 16% compared to February. On an annual basis, it increased by 6% to reach 7.3 million tons.
Data from China's General Administration of Customs in March shows that in January and February 2025, Beijing significantly increased its purchases of Russian non-ferrous metals. In the first two months of 2025, Russia's exporters' revenue increased by 1.5 times year-on-year, reaching $711.77 million.
