RIA Novosti, December 3 report, Russian President's press secretary Peskov said that the claim that Russian President Putin vetoed the U.S.-proposed Ukraine conflict mediation plan is false.
Peskov said: "The key issue is that this direct exchange of views took place for the first time yesterday. As was said yesterday, some were adopted and some were canceled because they were unacceptable; this is a normal process of seeking consensus."
Peskov said that the Russian side hopes the U.S. will abide by the "silent principle" of not making public statements during negotiations on the Ukraine issue.
He said: "We believe that in the current situation, it is best for the negotiations to take place in silence. We will adhere to this 'silence' principle, and we also hope our American dialogue partners will do the same... The less public the negotiations are, the more effective they may be."
On the evening of December 2 local time, Russian President Putin held talks with U.S. President's special envoy Witkow and Trump's son-in-law Kushner on the "peace plan" for Russia-Ukraine in the Kremlin. Russian presidential assistant Usakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Dmitryev, participated in the meeting. The meeting lasted nearly five hours.
