[Details of the Russian ballistic missile attack on the Odessa port]
On May 23, Oleksiy Kuruba, Ukraine's deputy prime minister responsible for reconstruction and minister of community and territorial development, and Oleh Khyppel, the military administrator of the Odessa region, reported on the Telegram channel that Russia had launched a missile attack on the civilian port of Odessa, resulting in one worker dead and eight injured.
Kuruba stated that the Russian side had launched two ballistic missiles to attack the port of Odessa. One port employee was killed, and eight enterprise employees were injured, with four of them seriously injured and receiving treatment. The attack damaged the mechanical department, destroyed doors and windows of administrative buildings, and destroyed vehicles and equipment. Kuruba emphasized that the Russian side once again attacked "civilian facilities of strategic significance to global food security." Since the full-scale outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Russian side has destroyed and damaged nearly 400 port facilities and more than 30 ships, causing 106 civilian casualties. Khyppel called on residents of the Odessa region to seek shelter promptly upon hearing an air raid alert.
In the morning of the same day, Russian drones also attacked the Odessa region, causing casualties. Russian forces launched drone attacks from multiple directions against various locations in Ukraine. Anti-aircraft forces intercepted them throughout the night. Some drones reached western Chernivtsi Oblast and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, causing damage to railways, buildings, and vehicles.
