New York State Attorney General Sued, Trump Sounds the Alarm for Revenge: Almost Lost $454 Million!

On October 9, a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia decided to bring criminal charges against New York State Democratic Attorney General Letitia James. The indictment accuses James of falsely claiming that a property she owns in Norfolk, Virginia, was her "second home" in order to obtain preferential loan terms that are not available for investment properties.

However, she later rented out the property to a family of three, effectively using it as an investment property rather than a primary residence. James quickly issued a statement denying all the charges and directly pointed the finger at Trump. She called this a continuation of Trump's "unrestrained weaponization of our judicial system" and accused Trump of only one goal: "political retaliation at any cost."

In September 2022, James' office filed a comprehensive lawsuit against Trump, his adult children, and Trump Organization, accusing them of obtaining economic benefits by inflating asset values. In February 2024, this lawsuit reached an important ruling — the New York Appellate Court ruled that Trump must pay the full $454 million penalty for his civil fraud case.

Luckily, the New York State Appellate Court later overturned the judgment against Trump for about $500 million in fines. In a 323-page decision, a panel of five judges stated that the $500 million fine was "excessive."

Now, Trump has begun retaliating against those who took action against him. On September 25, the same court sued former FBI Director James Comey, accusing him of making false statements and obstructing Congress. Comey has already pleaded not guilty to both charges at a pre-trial hearing on October 8.
