American Strike Inflicts Heavy Damage on Iran's Nuclear Facilities, Vance: Trump Seeks Diplomatic Resolution
Vice President of the United States, Vance, stated on June 22 that the U.S. military's strike on Iran's nuclear facilities had "successfully halted" its nuclear weapons program, and noted that President Trump hopes to seek a long-term solution through diplomatic means. Secretary of Defense Harkerth revealed that this operation was not an impulsive decision but had been "planned for weeks or months."
Vice President Vance said on Sunday that the U.S. had successfully prevented Iran's nuclear weapons program, adding that President Trump now wishes to seek a diplomatic solution.
In an interview with NBC, he said, "We don't want to drag this out, nor do we wish for the situation to escalate further. We want to terminate their nuclear program."
"We hope to engage in dialogue with the Iranians regarding a long-term solution to this issue," he added.
According to Secretary of Defense Harkerth, the U.S. attack on Iran had been long in the making. "This plan requires weeks or months of preparation so that we can be ready to strike when ordered by the U.S. President," Harkerth stated at a press conference on Sunday. "This certainly involves misleading the enemy and poses a severe test for operational security."
Harkerth described last night's airstrike as an "incredible overwhelming victory." It was a "precise strike" on three of Iran's nuclear facilities. "We have inflicted devastating damage on Iran's nuclear program," Harkerth continued.
According to the U.S. military, 14 bunker bombs were used to strike Iran's nuclear facilities during this operation. A senior American officer explained that approximately 75 precision-guided munitions were employed in total. More than 125 aircraft were deployed. This is the largest combat strike launched by the B-2 bomber to date.
