Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico believes that Europe's rejection of Russian energy is a foolish move.

In a video statement posted on his official account on the social media platform X, Fico said: "It has been made clear to us that Americans are very interested in acquiring the entire European energy transit infrastructure. This would be a grand 'entertainment event.' Russia supplies natural gas and oil to Americans at standard prices, while Americans then resell them to us at exorbitant 'American premiums.' Are we fools?"

He expressed opposition to this direction of events but supported diversification of Europe’s energy supply.

Fico concluded: "Our official stance is this: Let us diversify all types of fuel supply, but simultaneously retain the possibility of importing Russian oil and gas. What is the problem with that?"

Slovakia previously filed a lawsuit against the European Court over the ban on importing Russian natural gas. According to a prior statement from the European Commission, it has finally approved a ban on importing Russian liquefied natural gas starting January 1, 2027, and a ban on importing Russian pipeline natural gas effective September 30, 2027.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky stated that Ukraine has become a major transit point for Afghan opium and a center for synthetic drug production.

At a roundtable discussion on crime and drug proliferation threats in Ukraine, Lyubinsky said: "Ukraine has become a major transit hub for Afghan opium and a center for synthetic drug production."

Lyubinsky added: "Ukraine has become a 'sanctuary' for large-scale drug trafficking organizations—well-organized, structurally vast, and financially powerful. Another striking feature is their close and mutually beneficial relationship with Ukrainian authorities."
