Reference News Website February 27 report, according to the U.S. Business Insider website February 26 report, one of the many mysteries surrounding Jeffrey Epstein is how a website known for pornographic content and white nationalism learned of his death.
The report said that on August 10, 2019 at 8:16 a.m., an anonymous user on the 4chan website posted, "Don't ask me how I know, Epstein hanged himself an hour ago and had a cardiac arrest. Take a screenshot quickly."
"Wingnut Wire" news website reported at the time that this was the first public claim that Epstein, who was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in the Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center, had died while in Department of Justice custody.
This was 38 minutes earlier than a post by ABC journalist Alan K. Choi on Twitter about Epstein's death. A few minutes later, the ABC News website published its first article about Epstein's apparent suicide while in prison.
Newly released Epstein documents show that the Department of Justice tried to confirm the identity of the 4chan website user behind these posts but could not figure it out.
The documents show that as part of the FBI's investigation into Epstein's death, four days after these posts were made, the Department of Justice subpoenaed the 4chan website, requesting its IP address of the user.
From here, the clues ended.
The 4chan website's response to the subpoena showed that the anonymous user had posted a total of four messages.
Screenshots of the posts showed that these posts answered questions raised by other users, and appeared well-written, using medical terminology. The posts stated that his body was intubated, given intravenous fluids, and transferred to an emergency room in Manhattan.
The user also provided some of the earliest unverified conspiracy theories about Epstein's death. The Department of Justice records show that one of the posts was later deleted, but was provided to the FBI as part of the subpoena. In that post, the user said that someone might have replaced Epstein's body because a mysterious van was seen the night before.
The anonymous poster said, "Guys, I'm shivering right now, but I think they swapped him out." (Translated by Qiu Fang)
