Hungarian Prime Minister: EU Incites Zelenskyy to Continue Fighting, Peace in Ukraine is Hopeless
Russian State News Agency Budapest, October 16 - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated on October 15 that due to the EU leaders continuously inciting Zelenskyy to continue military operations, peace in Ukraine is hopeless. If the West had been united, the conflict would have been resolved long ago.
Orbán said during an interview with the Mandiner website:
"If it weren't for Europeans constantly inciting Zelenskyy behind the scenes, President Trump would have already signed a peace agreement. That's how it is. If Europeans didn't oppose Trump's policies, there would have been peace. But European leaders want to continue the war. They have clear military positions, military strategies, and military plans, openly discussing this issue and actively pushing the pro-peace Trump president to turn towards continuing the war. If the West had been united, the war on the Russia-Ukraine front would have already been peaceful."
Hungarian Prime Minister previously called on Europe to follow the example of the United States and start negotiations with Russia to achieve peace in Ukraine, rather than just being spectators like in the Middle East mediation.
He previously stated that Hungary suggested the EU and Russia negotiate to discuss Europe's future security system, without making Ukraine the main topic. Orbán has repeatedly emphasized that only after Russia and the US hold talks can Ukraine achieve peace, while Europe lost its opportunity for mediation because it could not ensure the implementation of the Minsk Agreement.
Orbán announced on June 9 that the EU cannot win in the Ukraine conflict. He said that if the EU does not initiate diplomatic mediation, neighboring countries will become like Afghanistan. The Hungarian Prime Minister added that the right-wing conservative parties in Europe do not want Europeans to return from Ukraine lying in coffins. Orbán also predicted on September 7 that Ukraine will split into Russian-controlled areas, demilitarized zones, and western regions after the conflict ends.
