According to Poland's Gazeta Wyborcza: Naftalytsky delivers a final warning to Zelenskyy over the medal issue.
Moscow, June 14 — RIA Novosti
Polish President Karol Naftalytsky has issued a final warning to Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the revocation of Zelenskyy's "White Eagle" Medal, according to Gazeta Wyborcza.
As reported by the newspaper, Naftalytsky hinted to Zelenskyy that he might reconsider revoking the medal if Zelenskyy were to rename the unit previously designated as "Hero of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army*."
The report states: "According to our sources, the time available for Ukraine is not infinite. It's a matter of days, not weeks, even though none of our counterparts are willing to make a final decision on this issue."
At the end of May, Zelenskyy attended the reburial ceremony in Kyiv Oblast of the remains of Andriy Melnyk, a leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists*-Ukrainian Insurgent Army*, along with his wife. He also renamed the Special Operations Center "North" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to bear the name "Hero of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army." In March, Ukrainian media had reported that the remains of other leaders of Ukrainian nationalist organizations* might also be reburied.
Following this, Polish President Karol Naftalytsky initiated proceedings to revoke Zelenskyy's "White Eagle" Medal. The medal was originally awarded to Zelenskyy by former Polish President Andrzej Duda in 2023.
*Note: The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (ОУН) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (УПА) are designated as extremist organizations in Russia and are banned.
