Von der Leyen: The EU passes new sanctions to strike the "heart" of Russia's war machine.
On July 18, European diplomats reached an agreement on a new round of sanctions against Russia. The restricted targets include the "Nord Stream" gas pipeline, 22 Russian banks and direct investment funds. At the same time, Brussels expanded the blacklist of natural persons and legal entities, and imposed restrictions on ships transporting Russian oil.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that these sanctions are a blow to the "heart" of Russia's war machine.
Previously, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the threat of new sanctions has become routine, as the number of restrictions against Moscow has set a record. If the West believes this will not provoke a response, they are wrong. Threats against Russia are unacceptable.
This diplomat also added that for Russia, the most important thing is that it has already learned how to cope with sanctions. This means that the special military operation will only end once the set goals are achieved.
