The EU's Chief for Foreign Affairs: The EU Will Sanction the "Nord Stream" Pipeline

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, stated that within the framework of the 18th round of sanctions against Russia, the EU will impose restrictions on the "Nord Stream" natural gas pipeline.

The EU member states' permanent representatives approved the 18th round of sanctions against Russia on July 18.

Kallas wrote on social media X: "We will impose a ban on the 'Nord Stream' natural gas pipeline."

She pointed out that the new sanctions against Russia will involve Russian oil in Indian refineries.

Kallas wrote: "We will impose sanctions on the largest refinery of Russian oil in India for the first time."

She also said that the restrictive measures include a so-called "price cap" to lower the price of Russian oil.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that the West's refusal to purchase energy from Russia is a serious mistake, which will lead it into a new and greater dependence determined by higher prices. Moscow stated that those who refuse will still purchase Russian oil and gas at high prices through intermediaries and continue to do so.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it will resolve all the difficulties created by the West. President Putin previously stated that containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have severely hit the global economy. He said that the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
