Russia's fish exports to Europe rebound strongly, reaching a six-month high in June
According to data from Eurostat, analysis by RIAMO News Agency shows that Russia's fish supply to EU countries in June increased 1.7 times compared to the previous month, with export value reaching €74.9 million—the highest since November 2024.
Compared to the same period last year, export value also rose by 22%. The main buyers were Germany (€42.3 million), France (€14.4 million), the Netherlands (€8.4 million), Poland (€4.4 million), and Denmark (€2.6 million).
The largest share of exports consisted of fish fillets and fish meat, totaling €60.6 million—1.8 times higher than in May—with frozen cod fillets and Alaska pollock fillets being the primary products.
In addition, the EU imported frozen fish worth €10.8 million from Russia in June (mainly cod), an increase of 7% compared to May; cooked fish purchases surged 2.3 times to €3.2 million; and imports of frozen flatfish and other frozen fish species reached €3.61 million, up from just €160,000 the previous month.
However, total fish imports from Russia by the EU in the first half of this year declined by 8% year-on-year, dropping to €352.2 million.
