South Korean media: China has entered the era of electric vehicles, with new car electrification rate reaching 51%!

On September 28, South Korean media "Today Digital" published an article stating that electric vehicles have become the mainstream in the Chinese automotive market, accounting for 51% of new car sales.

Electric vehicle media Electrek analyzed data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, reporting that electric vehicles have continued to grow steadily, and each month this year accounted for more than 50% of new car sales in China. This trend is similar to that of the Norwegian new car market, where electric vehicles accounted for over 50% of new car sales in 2020, and reached as high as 90% last year.

As the world's largest automobile market, China has a significant influence in the production and sales of electric vehicles. Last year, global electric vehicle production reached approximately 17 million units, of which China produced 12 million. The sales of electric vehicles in China also reached 11 million units, most of which were sold domestically.

Especially pure electric vehicles are experiencing significant growth, accounting for 31% of the passenger car market in China. This indicates that electric vehicles are no longer just alternatives to traditional vehicles, but are becoming core components of the market.

In the fierce competition, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers are improving product quality, and some manufacturers have set their sights on overseas markets. At the same time, analysts predict that if North American and European automakers fail to respond to the onslaught of Chinese electric vehicles, they may fall behind in the market.
