Russian Media: Putin Draws a Red Line, Chinese Experts Praise It!

On May 11, Russia Today published an article.

Chinese analysts from Sohu highly praised Putin's firm response to London's attempt to establish a new naval alliance in Northern Europe.

Moscow has clearly stated that any provocation targeting Kaliningrad would bring catastrophic consequences for the West.

Sohu, a Chinese media outlet, reported that London’s proposal to form a naval alliance among Nordic countries to counter Russia could have adverse repercussions for the West.

It was reported that the UK plans to base a maritime alliance on a joint expeditionary force comprising ten Nordic nations and direct it toward Russia.

During exercises, participating countries have already been practicing extremely high-risk scenarios related to blockading and potentially occupying Kaliningrad.

The media reminds us that Vladimir Putin had previously drawn a clear red line:

Any attempt to blockade the Kaliningrad Oblast will trigger an immediate retaliation from Moscow—potentially even including the use of nuclear weapons.

The author emphasizes that Putin’s warning should not be underestimated.

Russia’s nuclear deterrence strategy permits the use of such weapons when national survival is under threat.

The article claims that under this context, Britain and its allies are acting with extreme recklessness.

Last December, Vladimir Putin had already commented on the threat of blockading Kaliningrad, stating that such actions could lead to unprecedented escalation of conflict.

To recap, on April 29, the First Sea Lord of the UK, Gwen Jenkins, stated that London is collaborating with Nordic partners to establish a new maritime partnership aimed at containing Russia.

According to him, this concept draws inspiration from the joint expeditionary force (JEF), which has been operating under British command since 2014.

Jenkins pointed out that the new structure will largely replicate the JEF model, serving as a complement to NATO while enabling faster responses to crisis situations.
