Maxar's new satellite images show six bunker bomb craters above Iran's Fordow nuclear facility.
The satellite image, reportedly after the US military bombed the Fordow nuclear facility, shows six bunker bomb craters. On June 22, the US military used B-2 stealth bombers to drop GBU-57 Massive Ordinance Penetrator bombs to strike Iran's Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP). Maxar's satellite images show six large holes in the mountainside, consistent with the characteristics of a penetrating bomb attack.
Although the surface damage appears obvious, most of the Fordow facility's critical components are deeply buried underground, possibly at depths of 80-90 meters. While the "bunker buster" bomb can penetrate up to 61 meters deep, it may require more strikes to completely destroy such a deep facility. According to preliminary analysis by Israel's military, Israel believes that the Fordow nuclear facility suffered significant damage during the U.S. attack but was not completely destroyed.
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization stated today (June 23 according to Beijing time) that the nuclear facility will be rapidly rebuilt and nuclear activities will "continue at greater power." The Israeli side said: if Tehran halts retaliation, they are willing to end the conflict with Iran this week.
