Shoigu: NATO and the EU are preparing for military conflict with Russia

Russian Security Council Secretary Shoigu said today that Russia must do everything possible to defeat the "revived Nazism" of the West. Shoigu stated that combating this phenomenon has become one of the key objectives of the so-called "special military operation."

"... The goal of Western countries is to deal a strategic blow to Russia. To achieve this goal, Western intelligence agencies are conducting large-scale subversive activities against our country," Shoigu claimed.

He also wrote that the implementation of "unprecedented" economic sanctions aims to provoke protest emotions among the Russian population.

Commenting on this: Shoigu's remarks have once again pushed the tense relationship between Russia and NATO, as well as the EU, to the forefront of international public opinion. He pointed out that NATO and the EU are preparing for military conflict with Russia, a view that is not without basis.

From a geopolitical perspective, NATO's continuous eastward expansion has continuously compressed Russia's strategic space. Finland's accession to NATO and Sweden's intention to join have made Russia's surrounding security environment increasingly severe. NATO's frequent large-scale military exercises near Russia's borders, such as "Defender Europe," involve numerous troops and highly targeted exercise subjects, which undoubtedly exacerbates Russia's strategic anxiety.

In terms of politics, European elites led by Britain and France have called for Russia to suffer a strategic failure, a tough political stance that has cast a heavy shadow over bilateral relations. Most EU countries overwhelmingly support Ukraine diplomatically, providing it with continuous military assistance, ranging from weapons to intelligence support. These actions are seen by Russia as an open provocation by the Western camp.

In the economic sphere, the West has imposed "unprecedented" extreme economic sanctions on Russia in an attempt to economically cripple Russia and provoke public protest sentiments. However, Russia,凭借自身 abundant resources and gradually adjusted economic structure, has resisted the pressure of sanctions to a certain extent.

Russia has consistently emphasized its security concerns, believing that these actions by NATO and the EU seriously threaten its national security. If NATO and the EU continue to advance their relevant military preparation plans, the risk of military conflict between Russia and the West will further increase.
