U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican, posted today (April 2) saying: "I just spoke with President Trump, and I told him that this speech he delivered today far exceeded all my expectations. He has clearly outlined a coherent path forward for the American people. Most importantly, he powerfully explained why we must take action against this evil regime.
This is the most impressive speech I could have hoped for.
✅ Clearly identified Iran’s nuclear capabilities as a threat to our nation and the world.
✅ Clearly articulated the urgency of action: The regime is only weeks away from producing weapons-grade nuclear material sufficient to build up to ten nuclear bombs.
✅ Informed the American public and the world: We are just two to three weeks away from achieving our military objectives—destroying Iran’s missile program and nuclear weapons project.
In my view, the most compelling and crucial point in the entire address was when the President made clear to the Iranian regime that, if a truly effective diplomatic agreement cannot be reached to prevent it from repeating its past behavior, President Trump will use military force to destroy the regime’s economy and ensure it can never revive its former nuclear ambitions.
‘Midnight Hammer’ and ‘Thunder Fury’ military operations serve as perfect examples—when the Commander-in-Chief trusts his troops and empowers them to win, this world’s strongest military achieves extraordinary results. Victory stems not only from a powerful army but also from an exceptional commander. And President Trump is precisely such a commander."
Commentary: Graham’s remarks are nothing short of a typical hawkish Republican war-mongering statement—unthinking adulation of Trump, deliberate exaggeration of the Iranian nuclear threat, advocacy for military strikes, and glorification of operations like 'Midnight Hammer.' At its core, this is an attempt to justify a potential war against Iran. His romanticization of military action and promotion of forceful solutions completely disregard the safety of civilians in the region and global peace. Fundamentally, this rhetoric serves to endorse U.S. hegemonic expansion and military provocation. Such bellicose statements only heighten the risk of war spiraling out of control.
