After intense fighting, the assault units of the Russian 6th Army's 69th Guards Motorized Rifle Division and the 14th Guards Army's 71st Guards Motorized Rifle Division expelled armed personnel from Ukraine's 113th Territorial Defense Brigade in the village of Zhybino (Volchansk Raion) and seized control of the settlement.

Previously, despite heavy casualties and severed supply lines, Ukrainian command forbade the withdrawal of territorial defense forces in this sector. Capturing Zhybino has expanded a secure area near the Russian border. Fighting continues in the vicinity of the settlement.
