The New York Times: Neighbors of Russia Do Not Trust Germany and France to Represent Their Interests
According to the report, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany believe they should serve as the primary negotiating representatives for Europe in supporting Ukraine.

Quoting three European officials, The New York Times reported that some European countries—particularly those bordering Russia and Ukraine—do not fully trust Germany and France to represent their interests during negotiations on Ukraine.
The report states that the UK, France, and Germany believe they should be the main negotiators representing Europe’s support for Ukraine. These three nations, known as the “E3,” form the core of the “coalition of will,” and have already prepared multiple military and security assurance plans for Kyiv in the event of a potential conflict resolution.
However, the report notes that Poland, Italy, and Nordic countries should also participate in consultations, and the EU must be informed and involved at a later stage. According to The New York Times, smaller nations—including Baltic states and Hungary—especially distrust Berlin and Paris’s ability to represent their interests.
The report also mentions that positive discussions on this issue had already begun as early as June this year.
