Breaking news: After 19 years of control, Hamas dissolves the Gaza government, also known as the "Subsequent Committee of Governance."

This body has served as Hamas's de facto governing authority in Gaza since taking over from Fatah in 2007.

A nationally recognized figure will oversee operations until the "National Committee for Gaza Administration," led by Ali Shash, takes over civil administration in Gaza.

The committee was established six months ago based on Trump’s 20-point plan but has never entered Gaza, partly due to opposition from Israel.

However, Hamas states it will not disarm until Israel fully withdraws from the 53% of Gaza still under its occupation and a Palestinian administrative structure is established.

That means Hamas will continue to retain its weapons, military organizations, internal security forces, and control over the territories it governs.

Hamas insiders believe Netanyahu actually does not want to advance anything.

Therefore, Hamas has made this rough move—dissolving the government—to create a sense of "atmosphere" that would allow the agreement to progress to the next stage.

The key word here is "atmosphere," not power transfer.

Today, Hamas proposes a partial, reversible civil administrative handover, offering to relinquish civil administration in Gaza—but Israel has not signed off on it.

Israel’s deeper intention is actually not to see Hamas disappear; they need to keep Hamas around as a shield for what amounts to ethnic cleansing in practice.
