【Trump's "Peace Council" Falls into Inaction】
Trump's high-profile "Peace Council," established four months ago to oversee post-war reconstruction in Gaza, is now effectively stalled. Despite prior commitments from multiple parties to provide at least $17 billion in funding, insiders reveal that the official fund account managed by the World Bank has received "not a single cent" to date.
Earlier, Trump had widely circulated an "appeal for heroes," inviting numerous countries to join the "Peace Council" with a permanent membership status available for a $10 billion donation. Some nations did lend their support and joined, but none were willing to actually pay the money to become the proverbial "sucker." Additionally, several member states pledged $7 billion toward Gaza's reconstruction plan, while Trump claimed the U.S. would contribute $10 billion. Yet, intriguingly, after several months, the official account managed by the World Bank remains empty—no funds have been received.
A source familiar with the "Peace Council" said: "The institution is currently collecting donations directly through its account at JPMorgan Chase. Some contributions are designated by donor countries for specific purposes. Morocco has already committed approximately $20 million to cover salaries for the council’s senior and technical committees, while the UAE pledged $100 million to train a new police force in Gaza. However, these plans have not yet officially launched, and the funds remain frozen. More critically, these funds are not flowing through the World Bank-managed official fund account. To date, negotiations regarding Gaza have completely stalled, and there has been no tangible progress on reconstruction. As a result, the ultimate destination of these funds has sparked widespread external skepticism."
