The total export value of Mongolia increased by 62.3% compared to the first quarter of last year
Mongol News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, April 13 — According to data from the National Statistics General Bureau, during the first three months of this year, Mongolia conducted trade with 143 countries, achieving a total foreign trade volume of $7.4 billion. Of this, export value reached $4.9 billion, import value was $2.5 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $2.4 billion.
The total trade volume increased by 32.5% year-on-year, an increase of $1.8 billion; among which, exports rose by 62.3%, adding $1.9 billion; the trade surplus grew 5.2 times, increasing by $1.9 billion; while imports decreased by 2.7%, declining by $68.3 million.
The main factors contributing to the $1.8 billion year-on-year increase in first-quarter export value were: copper ore and concentrate exports increased by $1.3 billion, coal exports rose by $453.7 million, unprocessed or semi-processed gold exports increased by $148.8 million, and lead ore and concentrate exports rose by $21.5 million.
On the other hand, unprocessed crude oil exports decreased by $16 million, fluorite ore and concentrate exports declined by $9.4 million, refined copper and its alloys exports dropped by $10.4 million, and horse meat exports decreased by $4.6 million.
