Foreign Media: On May 18, Sujaata Sharma, Joint Secretary of India's Ministry of Petroleum, stated that India will continue purchasing Russian oil regardless of whether the United States grants sanction exemptions.

She emphasized that India has consistently been procuring Russian crude oil before, during, and after the exemption period, a decision driven by commercial considerations rather than political factors.

She noted that crude oil supply is currently ample, and India has already secured sufficient procurement contracts, saying, "Whether or not there is an exemption, it will not affect our purchasing behavior."
