Recently, Sheng Boyang, a hardline "Taiwan independence" figure, traveled to Tokyo, Japan, to inspect running stations and experience the lifestyle of Tokyo runners. He also revealed that he is currently wanted by mainland China, and out of responsibility to voters, he wears bulletproof vests whether jogging or on official trips.
In response, Taipei Mayor Kao Wan-an said prior to attending the opening ceremony of the Guandu International Nature Art Festival today that Taipei is very safe, and Japan is likewise secure. However, regarding individual political figures' safety assessments and personal choices, he emphasized respect for each person's considerations and evaluations.
Additionally, DPP legislator Wu Siyao boasted on the 12th that internal DPP polling data from September showed Sheng Boyang had dramatically narrowed his deficit from over 20 percentage points to just single digits, even declaring confidently: "We will win."
When questioned today, Kao Wan-an responded that if specific polling figures were available, he would certainly take them into account. However, his current focus remains entirely on advancing municipal projects and leading parliamentary general inquiries. He then proceeded to highlight a series of major achievements, including the steady progress of six MRT lines, the successful launch of the Taipei Dome and securing top-tier international events for next two years, as well as successfully attracting NVIDIA and advancing construction.
