Musk: Launch the Third Generation of Humanoid Robots in Q1 Next Year, Working Hard to Exceed Production of AI5 Chips
At Beijing Time on October 23, Tesla's third-quarter 2025 earnings report showed that the company's revenue for the third quarter was $28.095 billion, setting a new record for quarterly revenue, an increase of 11.57% year-on-year; net profit was $1.373 billion, a decrease of 36.81% year-on-year.
In the subsequent earnings call, regarding investor concerns about the无人驾驶 taxi (Robotaxi) Cybercab and other vehicle models, Tesla CEO Elon Musk mentioned that due to not having a clear enough understanding of fully autonomous cars, he had previously been unwilling to expand production, but now Tesla has a clear understanding, and expanding production is reasonable.
"The largest single production expansion will be Cybercab, which will start production in the second quarter next year," Musk responded during the analyst Q&A session.
Musk also reiterated his prediction about the humanoid robot Optimus, stating that Tesla's Optimus may become the product with the largest sales volume in the world, with an annual output of 1 million units, one important reason being Tesla's scale advantage.
"We expect to launch the third-generation humanoid robot (Optimus V3) in the first quarter next year. I think it will be very impressive," Musk said, adding that the third-generation humanoid robot looks "almost like a human wearing a robot suit."
However, he also admitted that bringing Optimus to the market is no easy task. Tesla's hands and forearms are a huge engineering challenge, and from an electromechanical perspective, manufacturing the forearm is much more difficult than other parts of the body.
Regarding the artificial intelligence chip AI5, which drives autonomous driving and robots, Musk stated at the third-quarter earnings call that Tesla is working hard to achieve "excess production," and any chips not used for cars or robots can be used for the company's data centers. He said, "Our clear goal is to achieve an oversupply of AI5 chips." It is reported that the AI5 chip will be produced by Samsung's Texas factory and TSMC's Arizona factory.

Industry generally believes that in the recent World Intelligent Internet Conference, Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun called on car manufacturers to focus their resources and efforts on technological innovation and R&D, jointly resisting online water armies and black PR practices; some official media have also published articles expressing the same intention to combat online water armies and black PR practices. Li Xiaoshuang's response is also in line with previous actions.

The World's First Offshore Wind Directly Connected Underwater Data Center Demonstration Project Completed in Lingang, Shanghai
On October 21, the world's first offshore wind directly connected underwater data center demonstration project was completed and held a large-scale expansion exchange meeting in Lingang, Shanghai.
At the meeting, Wu Xiaohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Lingang New Area, presented the plaque of "International Data Center Edge Computing Node" to the underwater data center demonstration project in Lingang. This is an important milestone for the Lingang New Area to promote the integration of digital economy, new energy and marine economy, as well as an important measure for Shanghai to serve the national strategy and build a global science and technology innovation center. In the future, the project will continue to receive policy support and supporting services, promoting more upstream and downstream enterprises to gather.
The 2025 Two Sessions government work report first included deep-sea technology, and on July 1, the sixth meeting of the Central Financial and Economic Commission once again made important arrangements for developing the marine economy, another milestone in top-level design.
Eastern Securities' defense industry team believes that underwater data centers use seawater for natural cooling, reducing the power usage effectiveness (PUE) to below 1.1, reducing energy costs by more than 40% compared to land-based data centers, and completely eliminating freshwater consumption; they can directly access offshore wind power and other green electricity resources, further reducing the risk of electricity price fluctuations, becoming an optimal solution for high computing power demand scenarios that balance economic efficiency and sustainability.
