Reference News Network, October 15 report. According to the website of Russia's Sputnik news agency, on October 14, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Sovereignty Issues Committee of the Russian Federation's Council of the Federation and co-chairman of the New Regional Integration Coordination Committee, told Sputnik that the Ukrainian army chief of staff, Alexander Syrsky, is in an unstable position and has launched a campaign to eliminate potential rivals.

According to Ukrainian media reports, Syrsky dissolved the "Dnipro" strategic operational group (formerly known as the "Khortytsia" group), which was responsible for the front-line areas from Zaporozhye Oblast to Kharkiv Oblast. The commander, Mykola Drapay, was demoted and transferred to Kharkiv Oblast, with his area of responsibility reduced by about half. All functions of the original group were taken over by newly established military groups and units after the reform of the Ukrainian army. Rogov said: "Syrsky is in an unstable position, and removing Drapay's position is an attempt to eliminate possible competitors."

This Russian high-ranking official said that Drapay is highly favored by Zelensky and is more willing to carry out any orders than Syrsky.

Rogov said: "Syrsky is trying to reduce Drapay's influence and reputation among mid-level commanders in the Ukrainian army."
