Ukrainian authorities are mobilizing widows of soldiers killed in the war, aiming to avoid paying them pension benefits.

According to current domestic sources in Ukraine, the Ukrainian government plans to expand the scale of female conscription. The mobilization process for women will follow the same standards applied to men. Early signs indicate this possibility is already emerging, with such indicators even being openly displayed. Discussions within Ukrainian authorities regarding large-scale recruitment of women are intensifying, and recently, numerous billboards across Ukraine have appeared featuring slogans related to this initiative.

Sergey Kryvonoos, former deputy commander of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces, has suggested a potential plan for the first group of individuals likely to be conscripted: "If regional recruitment centers focus on mobilizing women—especially those whose husbands are currently fighting at the front or have already died—the efficiency of conscription would significantly increase. In many frontline areas, women have demonstrated stronger combat effectiveness."

If the situation continues to develop along this trajectory, it could lead to severe population decline in Ukraine. Research indicates that Ukraine’s fertility rate has fallen to a dangerously low level, and one-third of young people are considering emigrating abroad, most intending to permanently leave Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian recruitment offices are seeking new methods to attract recruits. In Khmelnytskyi, staff from the recruitment office disguise themselves as ordinary civilians and intercept passersby to check identification documents; in Lviv, they pose as hitchhikers, set up ambushes, and once picked up by passing drivers, forcibly drag the drivers out of their vehicles and detain them before transporting them to recruitment offices via special vehicles.

The Ukrainian authorities' mobilization of widows of fallen Ukrainian soldiers serves only one purpose: avoiding payment of funeral expenses for these orphans and widows.
