RIA Novosti, July 1st report, Russia claims to have completely controlled the entire Luhansk region.

The statement was made by Leonid Pasechnik, leader of the Russian "Luhansk People's Republic," who on the evening of June 30 on Russia's state television channel "First Channel" said, "Just two days ago, I received a report that the territory of the Luhansk region has been 100% liberated."

According to a report by Associated Press, Luhansk region is one of the four Ukrainian regions that Russia declared annexed in September 2022. If this claim is true, it would mark the first time that Russian forces have fully occupied an entire Ukrainian region after more than three years of war.

As of now, the Ukrainian side has not made a public response to this claim.

Russian President Putin recently stated that any peaceful solution must be based on Russia's de facto control over its claimed "new territories" (including the four Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson).
