Kazakhstan's Tourism Service Exports Increased by 18% in the First Half of the Year, with Chinese Tourists Driving a Significant Increase in Tourism Revenue

Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to data for the first six months of this year, Kazakhstan's tourism service exports reached 1.3 billion USD, an increase of 18% compared to the previous year.

Among these, tourism revenue generated by Chinese tourists increased by 50%, reaching 192 million USD.

Daniyel Serzhanuly, the acting chairman of the state-owned company Kazakh Tourism, stated that it is expected that the total tourism service exports for the entire year of 2024 will reach 2.6 billion USD.

"Tourism brings foreign exchange income to the national economy. Chinese tourists use the RMB, and German tourists spend Euros - this is the direct export of our tourism services. Currently, the proportion of tourism in the gross domestic product is not high, while in developed countries, this indicator can reach up to 10% of GDP, equivalent to 20 to 30 billion USD. Therefore, the main goal of developing inbound tourism is to attract income from abroad and ensure that these revenues benefit the local population and local enterprises," said Serzhanuly.

He pointed out that different directions of tourism have their own significance. Domestic tourism is considered a social activity aimed at promoting people's rest and mental and physical recovery. According to him, people need to rest and recover during holidays, which is both an opportunity to regain energy and helps improve the quality of life. He emphasized that for this reason, many residents choose to take vacations in places like Alakol and Balqash lakes.

Previously reported, one of the most popular Italian travel programs, "Donnavventura," has specially filmed an episode on Kazakhstan this season. The program has been broadcast for more than five years and has been dedicated to introducing the world's most beautiful regions to global audiences.
