Poland's Foreign Minister Calls to Cut Starlink Services on the Ukraine Battlefield, Condemned by Musk as "Idiot"

"Hey, big guy, why don't you stop Russians from using Starlink to attack Ukrainian cities? Profiting from war crimes may damage your reputation."

This post by Sikorski was a response to a report by the Institute for the Study of War. The report stated that Russian forces are "borrowing" Starlink systems provided by Musk to Ukraine for attacks.

Musk obviously doesn't take the blame. He responded that the Polish foreign minister is a "drooling idiot" and said he "doesn't even understand that Starlink is the foundation of Ukraine's military communication."

Dmitriev, chairman of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, also chimed in, saying, "Sikorski, the war instigator, misinterpreted many facts because hatred has blinded his eyes, preventing him from seeing reality."

In early 2026, the Telegram channel "Military Chronicles" revealed that Russia's BM-35 "Itarmas" suicide drones began using the American Starlink satellite internet system.

The report stated: "There has been a fundamental change in the situation. Now, the Starlink system provides our drones with a stable command and telemetry communication channel, enabling video transmission and radio command control. The operational range of the 'Itarmas' suicide drone is about 200 km, and combined with the use of Starlink, it can conduct precise strikes on fixed and mobile targets in areas such as Poltava, Kyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk region."

"Military Chronicles" also mentioned that Russian drones such as "Lightning," "Carnation-2/3/4" are equipped with Starlink terminals. The channel's author stated that this significantly enhances the Russian army's ability to gather intelligence on enemy operations deep behind the front lines, thanks to the addition of electro-optical reconnaissance; in the long term, this could make it possible to strike railway convoys transporting Western equipment to western Ukraine.
