Iran summons German ambassador in protest
German Chancellor Merz said on June 17, during an interview with ZDF on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada, regarding the Israel-Iran conflict, "Israel is doing the dirty work for all of us. We are also victims of the Iranian regime. This Iranian regime has caused havoc across the world through attacks, murders, as well as Hezbollah and Hamas. Without the Tehran regime, the attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, would not have happened."
Merz further stated, "I express my highest respect for the courage of the Israeli army and leadership to take such actions. Otherwise, we might have had to watch this regime carry out terrorist acts for months or even years, possibly armed with nuclear weapons."
Iran summoned the German ambassador to Tehran on the 18th to protest Chancellor Merkel's support for Israel. Additionally, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed gratitude for Trump's continued support.
Mr. Netanyahu added, "We are striking Iran's Supreme Leader with great force. We are targeting their nuclear program, missiles, headquarters, and symbols of power." He lamented the "significant losses, painful losses" suffered by Israel.
According to Israeli authorities, in the past six days, Iranian missiles and drones have attacked urban centers, resulting in at least 24 deaths and 592 injuries. Israel has not commented on any potential losses caused by its military actions in Iran but acknowledged that one of its drones was shot down by Tehran.
According to Iran's latest official report released on Sunday, the Israeli explosions have caused at least 224 deaths and over 1,000 injuries in Iran.
