It's in the U.S. Interest: The U.S. Excludes Kazakhstan's Caspian Sea Key Energy Projects from the Sanctions List
Kazakhstan International News Agency - The U.S. Department of Treasury exempted the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Tengizchevroil, and the Karachaganak project from sanctions.
According to TASS, the U.S. decision excluded the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Tengizchevroil Company, and the Karachaganak oil field development project from the scope of sanctions targeting Rosneft and Lukoil.
The U.S. Department of Treasury announced this in General License No. 124B.
This document allows providing services related to the operational activities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Tengizchevroil, and the Karachaganak project, as well as conducting other transactions. However, this license does not authorize the sale or transfer of shares in the aforementioned companies and projects.
On the 12th of this month, Erland Akkenov, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, stated that Kazakhstan is requesting the removal of sanctions against the Karachaganak oil field project.
"We are working in this direction. Kazakhstan has submitted the relevant documents," he said at the time.
Previously, the U.S. Department of Treasury had included Lukoil and Rosneft, along with their 34 affiliated entities, in the new sanctions list.
