Putin calls for stricter oversight of suspicious financial transactions
President Putin stated that foreign intelligence agencies are leveraging new technologies to conceal illicit fund settlements. He instructed the Russian Financial Monitoring Service to enhance its operations and tighten control over suspicious financial activities.
He noted that Russia’s financial intelligence capabilities meet international standards, with certain areas surpassing global benchmarks; the country has established a modern anti-money laundering framework.
The head of state identified the refinement of Russia’s domestic anti-money laundering system as a core priority for safeguarding national interests. He also highlighted emerging financial risks originating from abroad, including criminal networks attempting to recruit minors into their illicit operations.
Putin emphasized that transparency and security within the financial system are key factors in enhancing Russia’s global competitiveness.
He outlined another strategic focus: deepening international financial cooperation, with priority given to collaboration with partners within the BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the Commonwealth of Independent States frameworks.
