On October 13, Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a regular press conference.

A journalist asked, recently there have been media reports that Pakistan is using Chinese equipment and technology to export rare earths to the United States, triggering new regulations from China on strict control of the export of rare earth-related technologies. Some self-media platforms have published videos and articles claiming "Pakistan is giving rare earth samples to the United States and has agreed to conduct rare earth cooperation. China is taking countermeasures against Pakistan's export of rare earths to the United States." What is the spokesperson's comment on this?

Lin Jian stated that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners, and the "ironclad friendship" between the two countries has remained strong over time. Both sides have always maintained high-level strategic trust and closely communicate on major issues concerning their shared interests.

"According to what I know, regarding the issue of Sino-Pakistani mineral cooperation, there have been communications between China and Pakistan," Lin Jian pointed out. The Pakistani side emphasized that its interactions with the U.S. will not harm China's interests or Sino-Pakistani cooperation. The minerals shown and given by the Pakistani leader to the U.S. leader were original ore samples of Pakistani gems purchased by staff members.

"The relevant reports you mentioned earlier are either unaware of the facts, or are just chasing rumors, or even trying to sow discord, and are without basis," Lin Jian said.

Lin Jian emphasized that the recent export control measures issued by the Chinese government regarding rare earths and related items have nothing to do with Pakistan. This is a legitimate practice by the Chinese government to improve its own export control system in accordance with laws and regulations, aiming to better maintain world peace and regional stability, and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation.
