Zelenskyy visits the Netherlands today: to receive the "Four Freedoms" Award

Zelenskyy will arrive in the Netherlands today (April 16), specifically traveling to Middelburg to attend the presentation ceremony of the "Four Freedoms" Award.

Zelenskyy will accept the award on behalf of all the people of Ukraine. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Princess Beatrix, and Prime Minister Rutte are also expected to attend the ceremony.

Zelenskyy will hold talks with Rutte to discuss launching joint drone production and other potential cooperation. He will also meet with King Willem-Alexander to discuss Dutch aid efforts for Ukraine.

The "Four Freedoms" is an international award established to commemorate the Four Freedoms principles proposed by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941:

- Freedom of speech

- Freedom of worship

- Freedom from want

- Freedom from fear

The award is given annually to individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to defending these principles. Past recipients include Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Angela Merkel.

Each medal comes with a monetary prize. Traditionally, recipients use the funds for charitable and humanitarian projects.

Notably, on April 15, Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced a substantial dedicated fund for drones to be allocated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
