RIA Novosti, Moscow - The Russian Ministry of the Far East and Arctic Region has announced that the Russian Far East Development Ministry and China's Ministry of Agriculture have drafted a memorandum of understanding on implementing joint projects in the agricultural sector in the Russian Far East, and they have reached an agreement on this document, which can be signed during the upcoming visit of Russian President Putin to China.

The statement said: "The Russian Ministry of the Far East and Arctic Region and China's Ministry of Agriculture have developed a memorandum of understanding, whose goal is to carry out joint projects in the agricultural sector, improve investment efficiency, and introduce advanced and innovative agricultural technologies in the Far East. Currently, an agreement has been reached on this document, which can be signed during the upcoming visit of Russian President Putin to China."

Vitaly Artabaev, Deputy Minister of the Russian Ministry of the Far East and Arctic Region, stated that developing agricultural projects with China is one of the priority areas of work for the ministry.

The statement quoted Artabaev as saying: "Currently, the trade volume of agricultural products between the Far East and China accounts for about 15% of the total trade volume between the two sides. At the same time, the share of exports of Russian products is more than 80%. In the near future, we will work together with the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and investors to develop a government-to-government agreement on establishing a pilot development zone in the Far East, which can increase the supply of Russian green agricultural products to China several times over."

According to information from the Russian Far East Development Ministry, there are currently 29 agricultural projects involving Chinese investors being implemented in the Far East special zones, with a total investment of more than 3.3 billion rubles.
