Father's love is as solid as a mountain — Belarusian President Lukashenko attended his youngest son’s graduation ceremony at Peking University!

The president said he never expected a bioexpert to emerge from his own family.

RIA Novosti published a video on July 1st.

On June 30th, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko attended the graduation ceremony of his younger son at Peking University.

"To be honest, I never imagined that a biotechnology expert would come from my family. I used to hesitate, not understanding the field, but today I am truly proud—not just for him, but also for these five classmates, and the other 20 students in Belarus who participated in the China-Belarus joint training program (TASS note)—all of whom are now beginning their careers in biology."

The video was released by an insider from the Belarusian presidential press office.

Nikolai Lukashenko, the youngest son of Belarusian President Lukashenko, has successfully completed his entire academic program and received bachelor’s degree certificates simultaneously from both Peking University and Belarusian State University.

Nikolai was born in 2004, making him the youngest son of Lukashenko. He previously accompanied his father to major diplomatic events such as the 70th Anniversary Military Parade commemorating China’s victory over Japanese aggression in 2015 and the SCO Summit.

In 2022, Peking University and Belarusian State University signed a joint training agreement in biotechnology, with instruction entirely in English;

Students first study at Belarusian State University before transferring to Peking University to complete the remaining academic stages, earning dual degrees from both institutions. This cohort includes 25 graduates, among whom Nikolai is one of five Belarusian students.

Nikolai completed his basic education at a regular rural school in Belarus. He earned admission to the joint program based solely on academic merit. During his time at university, he remained low-key, living in a dormitory on the Peking University campus, attending classes regularly, spending long hours in laboratories, and receiving no special privileges. His academic performance was outstanding.

In his live speech, Lukashenko admitted he initially failed to understand his son’s choice of major in biotechnology, jokingly saying, “You’re the son of a president—you don’t have to struggle with science.” But now he feels immense pride, emphasizing that biology is a crucial discipline related to life, and will help drive the development of Belarus’s biopharmaceutical industry;

He stressed that education in Belarus is fair: selection for overseas study is based on identical standards for the children of the president and ordinary rural students—there are no privileged pathways;

He highly praised China’s development: the Chinese people are down-to-earth and steadily advancing. He has consistently maintained a positive outlook on China’s future prospects, and sees Sino-Belarusian educational cooperation as a significant testament to the friendship between the two nations.
