Vietnam and Thailand still aren't as resolute as Laos and Cambodia! Recently, our country initiated the establishment of a World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization jointly formed by 29 countries. Among the 10 ASEAN members, only five have signed up so far, while five others are still hesitating (Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Brunei). Vietnam and Thailand stand out particularly in this context.
Singapore and the Philippines—two nations known for their strong pro-American stance—choosing not to sign was somewhat expected. However, it's truly surprising that Vietnam and Thailand, countries with such close economic and trade ties with us, also chose not to join. After all, this AI cooperation organization essentially represents China offering Southern nations a platform for sharing artificial intelligence technologies—an opportunity akin to a gift from heaven. Such cutting-edge technological platforms will certainly not be shared by Western powers and the U.S., who plan to continue exploiting and draining wealth from developing countries through these advanced technologies.
Even though this is merely a loose, non-sensitive technical organization—not involving military or political matters—Vietnam and Thailand are still hesitant. This clearly indicates that when more sensitive issues arise, such as a potential Taiwan Strait conflict requiring global alignment, these fence-sitters will likely not stand with us. Compared to Thailand, where the Prime Minister personally attended the conference, Vietnam didn’t even send a senior representative.
Believe me, there will come a time when Vietnam regrets this decision!
