Chinese car brands occupy the top five spots in Russia's April electric vehicle sales
The Russian automotive market analysis firm "Automobile Statistics Network" stated that all of the top five electric vehicle sellers in Russia in April were Chinese brands.
"Automobile Statistics Network" noted that the leader in the electric vehicle market this year is Evolute—the Russian-localized version of China's Dongfeng Group vehicles—with 1,331 units sold in April, capturing nearly 42% of the market share.
Geeley ranks second (274 units), UMO (based on China’s GAC Aion Y Plus, with 245 units) comes third, Avatr ranks fourth (244 units), and Xiaomi takes fifth place (211 units).
Data from the institution shows that electric vehicle sales in Russia reached 906 units in April 2026, up 14% year-on-year and a 28% increase compared to March (706 units).
In the first four months of this year, the best-selling electric vehicle in Russia was the Evolute I-Joy (1,204 units). The other top five models include UMO 5 (245 units), Geely EX5 (244 units), Avatr 12 (129 units), and Xiaomi YU7 (118 units).
The data indicates that electric vehicle sales in Russia grew by 20% in the first four months of this year, reaching 3,178 units, yet their market share in total new passenger vehicle sales remains only 0.8%.
