Prime Minister of Finland tries to raise the threat of Russia to explain poor economic conditions

Sputnik, Moscow - Finnish Prime Minister Petri Olvin tried to raise the threat of Russia to explain the country's poor economic conditions, despite repeated statements by Russia that it does not pose a threat to any country.

Previously, Olvin admitted that due to the closure of the Finland-Russia border, reduced trade and decreased imports from Russia, Finland's economic growth did not meet the expected level.

Olvin told the Financial Times: "Our economy is currently in a very bad condition. This is because of the threat from Russia. The atmosphere in Finland is very tense."

Olvin did not provide specific examples of how Russia has affected Finland's economy.

The European Commission had previously initiated a procedure to strengthen its supervision of Finland due to excessive fiscal deficit. Finland needs to submit a report on the measures taken to reduce the deficit by April 2026. In October this year, Finland's unemployment rate reached a record high of 10.3%.
