Foreign Media: Hugging Face CEO recently stated that China is winning the AI race, as its open-source models have already taken a dominant position and are expected to lead in top-tier models by year-end or next year.

China's AI model performance is rapidly catching up to the U.S. frontier level; for instance, Kimi K3, released by Moonshot AI in July, has surpassed both Anthropic and OpenAI in certain benchmark tests. Meanwhile, Chinese models are more cost-effective and gaining increasing acceptance in developing countries, potentially bringing geopolitical implications.

However, the United States still holds several major advantages: the strongest models, robust technology alliances, and overwhelming computing power superiority. Export controls restrict China's access to advanced chips. Moonshot AI had to temporarily halt new subscriptions due to an unprecedented surge in demand for Kimi K3.

China is responding by acquiring computing power overseas and through other means. In the long term, if manufacturing, robotics, and similar sectors become key indicators of AI value extraction, China will be in a favorable position.
